Last year my ex and I broke up. she said it was because I had some growing up to do. Truth be told I was 21 at the time and more interested in partying and drinking than a serious relationship. It wasn’t until after she left me that I realized how much she meant and from then on I couldn’t stop thinking about ways to get my ex back.

If you are like me and more interested in partying and drinking you’ll need to seriously take a look at your relationship. Are you really in love with your ex, or is it just infatuation, or are you in love with the physical attraction?

This may sound harsh, but if you are in party mode there are plenty of other girls looking for the same thing, move on. If you really do love the girl you’re going to be in for some serious adjustments if you want to get her back.

So without further ado here are my steps to get your ex girlfriend back.

1. Take a hard look at yourself. I know this one is hard believe me, but it’s the only way to get some perspective and look at the whole picture objectively. Did your girlfriend break up with you for a particular reason? Most girlfriends give plenty of hints about their concerns long before they break up with you. What are the real reasons you broke up? Most likely there are several things that will come to mind, constant complaints that you know bug her.

2. Carefully decide if she really is the right one for you. Breaking up and getting your ex back can be depressing and emotionally draining activities. Do you love her enough to make some serious changes in your life?

I know for me the drinking and partying were a huge part of my life, but after careful consideration I dropped them for the chance to be with my girl again.

3. Now that you know the main factors that lead to the break up, you can work to overcome them. Concentrate on fixing the primary problems with yourself. Don’t be concerned about petty stuff like justification. If you really want your ex back you will need to do whatever it takes. Including changing the way you are perceived and putting your heart on the line.

For instance if your girlfriend broke up with you because you are too boring you’ve got a lot of work ahead of you. Being boring is a girl’s code word for too predictable. Think about what you can do next time to spice things up and keep your girl on her toes? In this situation you don’t want to give away all your power to the girl. The next time she asks you a question, don’t say whatever you want, or I don’t know, be decisive. Try doing something spontaneous to win her back and prove that you are the man she wants.

For me it was proving to her that my love for her meant more to me than partying and drinking. For this I took the risk of mailing her a letter with my heartfelt feelings. I felt vulnerable, but she called me the night she received the card and asked if I could come over.

Now a quick warning about putting your heart on the line, it can backfire. One of my friends was dumped and rather than writing a heartfelt letter decided he would sing a song for her into her answering machine. I think it was something by Elton John… Bad, bad idea, the girl ended up taking the recording and playing it for all her and his friends.

Lesson of the story is, win her back by showing your ex your heart, just be careful not to put yourself in a position where it can be trampled.

Left Waiting – Part One

you said meet me at eight
you showed up at nine
I waited for you
you showed no sign

looking for love in you
passion was there
not knowing what to do
your eyes i’d stare

hoping that love was real
you charmed me all night
avoiding the hard questions
i didn’t want to fight

it came to the end
after you got what you want
now I’m all alone
you continue your hunt…

Left Waiting – Part Two

Watching and waiting
by the phone
no calls, no knocking’
i’m still alone

i know in my heart
that true love was not
still i’m left waiting
thinking it could be taught

with a little more time
maybe one more night
i could convince you
it will be alright

Does my ex still have feelings for me? It’s a question I desperately need answered because it’s been a little over one month now since we broke up and he still calls me and wants to see me. But he was the one who broke up with me last month and I think it’s some kind of a test.

The reason he gave for breaking up was that I needed to stop talking to my other guy friends. I can understand his jealousy, but some of these friends I’ve known for years. The relationship is innocent and I don’t think he trusts me.

But I really do still love him, we were together for seven months and he’s 20 and I’m 18. Should I tell him I’ll stop talking to these other guys to be exclusive? I don’t want to lose him if it’s really my fault.

Thanks from confused Megan in California.

————————————————————————————–

Before you go jumping back into a relationship with your ex or someone new, here’s some questions to ask your boyfriend so you don’t make the same mistakes as in the past.

After all you’ve worked hard at getting over your ex, not chasing them, rebuilding your self esteem, and working on upping your attraction factor, right?

You made it through the tough “no call time,” and now you’re ready to get back out in the dating scene. Here’s the questions you need to know upfront to make absolutely sure this boyfriend is right for you.

These first questions are geared for those of you who have joined a dating service and written a profile that paints a perfect picture of you. This means you’ve already uploaded a few great looking pictures, and now you are ready to start talking with some people you’re beginning to meet. In a little bit we’ll hit, “what to ask, to learn more about your future boyfriend,” to get a good idea what he’s like.

It’s at this stage you want to start separating the loser boyfriends from the ones with real potential. It would be nice if you owned some sort of B.S detector, or at the very least a pet that could growl at the real assholes. You need to find out if the person you’ve met is who they really say they are… or believe they are.

Wouldn’t it be cool if men wore signs like “Player” or “Baby Daddy,” or even, “Felon!”… but unfortunately they don’t so it’s completely up to you to find out these things for yourself. The best way to do this is to just come right out and ask direct questions.

The goal here is to find out what mistakes to avoid making and the best way to impress this guy if you decide he seems right for you. After you are past the initial small chit chat, just come right out and ask him. What are the biggest mistakes girls make when dating online?”

You’ll want to listen thoughtfully to his answers. Hopefully with that question you’ll get a glimpse into what his views are on women. Many guys won’t say much or give a definitive answer, so you may need to coax them with more small talk. A good follow up questions would be, “What do you really think about dating online?”

From here he might tell you about any bad experiences dating he’s had with online dating and possibly give you an idea of what to avoid. what you should really be aiming for is this question which should give you insight into what kind of guy you’re dealing with…

It’s an important one and it goes something like this ”What caused the break up in your last relationship?” Chance are if he pours all the blame squarely on his ex then he’s probably not being honest. This would be a red flag that maybe you want to keep on looking.

If he puts all the blame on himself, then he may be being honest, but not necessarily a good catch. It pays to be aware his reasons for breaking up and how he treated his ex. If he says the breakup was due to a mutual agreement, or it just wasn’t a good match, then you may have the correct answer you’re looking for.

As you eventually begin to see the new boyfriend, you’ll be able to ramp up the questions accordingly. You want someone who makes you feel wanted and won’t end up taking advantage of you. With careful planning you get to know your boyfriend better and avoid potential pitfalls like being strung along, lied too, cheated on, or worse.

As the relationship progresses you can ask things like:

1. Describe yourself in a single sentence
2. What would you cook for me?
3. What would you like to change about yourself?
4. If you could have three wishes, what would they be?
5. Do you make friends easy?
6. What’s your idea of the perfect date?
7. Where do you see yourself in five, ten, fifteen years?
8. Who is your favorite hero of all time?
9. Do you consider yourself a happy person?
10. What is your greatest trait, accomplishment, goal for the future.

The list can go on and on. Continue to use your imagination to find out as much as you can about your future boyfriend. Ask these questions and don’t be afraid to learn the truth. Many men may try to avoid this stuff, but in the end it will tell you a lot about the person you’re with.

It can be difficult to find new friends after a breakup because you’ve been out of the loop for so long. Maybe you’ve just gone through a divorce or your ex did some bruising damage to your ego on the way out. Whatever the reason you need to rebuild your life and make new friends to get back on track. Here’s some help on how to find new people that you can be friends with.

One of the easiest ways to try out your attraction skills is online. Often right after an ex leaves you you’re not in the mood to go out, but you still feel want to reach out to someone. In this case the internet can be a good place to start.

One thing to consider is you don’t have to go online looking for a new girlfriend or boyfriend right away. Some people want that feeling of love back so bad they’re willing to find somebody anybody they can to rebound with. Even if they’re not their type or they’re only for a quick fling. You may consider avoiding this and going online to find someone just to talk. Finding a male or female friend that you can just talk to without judgments. The Internet is full of opportunity to get stuff off your chest.

Finding friends online is much more low key because you can be whomever you want to. Do be aware that real lasting friendships will only come with a resemblance of honesty. While it may be fun to try out your acting skills online to meet some hotties it won’t benefit you in the long run. Not having to worry about decoding body language or the tone of their voice online can be a mixed blessing. For one it’s much easier to be who you want and live out a fantasy, hone your witty chat skills and avoid sensitive issues if you want. On the other hand, you really don’t know if your new online friend is being absolutely upfront with you either.

After a bad breakup you can be embarrassed about how you were treated, disparing about your circumstances or depressed. Online you can recreate the details of your past creating a story by picking and choosing what you wish to reveal. Doing so can sometimes make you feel better about your current situation as well as help rebuild your crushed ego.

After you’ve made some online connections, you might be ready to take on the real world for a change. The first place to look is right at home. By reaching out and spending time with your immediate long term friends, co-workers and family you can leverage their network of associations to find new friends.

After all, who knows you better then your old friends and your family. They can introduce you to people who you can start a relationship with. Some of your friends maybe able to even hook you up with someone who you might like. As you may know blind dates can be entirely hit or miss, with them often ending in disaster… You never know until you try. You just might find yourself falling in love with a person you met through a friend. In these cases it’s best to never judge a situation before hand without knowing what you may find in that person.

If you’re attempting to find friends after a breakup out of desperation, abusing drugs or alcohol, working too much, or taking risks, it may be because you are depressed. You may want to consider talking to someone or seeking medical attention. The feeling of depression can be overwhelming after a loss, and reaching out may be what you need to get happier. What ever you do, know that self-medication, abusing substances and risky behavior can only add more fuel to the fire and prolong your misery.

For the best outcome after a bad breakup you’ll want to improve your circumstances. Take this time to do the things you’ve always wanted to do. Get a new hobby, visit new places, meet new people and get outside your comfort zone. Even reconnecting with old relationships from your past can get your momentum back.

Your newly single and you should seek out exciting friendship and dating opportunities whenever possible. Friends whether they’re intimate or not can help you get over your breakup and start enjoying life again. All you can think about is how to get your ex back.

Before you try, you need to consider exactly what caused the break up in the first place. This way you can avoid even more hardship and frustration in the future. Not to mention, that doing the wrong things can push your loved ones further from you and alienate them even more.

Rule number one is to not go chasing after them. If they left you, the first inclination you usually have is to try to get your ex back as quick as possible. You want to think hard before doing so because that action will often push them further away. You’ll want to carefully consider the causes of the breakup, and work toward making yourself more appealing so they come back to you on their own accord.

I know this may sound extremely difficult, especially if you’ve been dating or married a long time. You’ll want to resist the temptation to call your ex for several weeks after the break up. Not only will this give you time to analyze the problems you had in the relationship. It will also give you time to work on yourself by making yourself more attractive and positioning yourself so you’re in a position of power again.

You’re main concern is to avoid the potential of losing your ex forever by repeating the same mistakes that got you in this problem to begin with. You’ll want to make sure you take in to consideration (in the case of a girlfriend) any of her annoyances that she held against you.

This ones tough, but it will go a long way to settling things and getting back to a fresh start again without the burden of past baggage and mistakes holding over you. You’ll want to agree with her that the breakup was the right decision and above all, do not beg her to take you back. By agreeing with her decision to breakup and seeing her point of view it will remove much of the resistance she may have, because she will understand that you agree with her and want whats best.

Done right, you’ll be perceived as more of an understanding person rather than an annoyance to her (him).

You’ll have a job to do during the first weeks after your breakup and the actions you take from here will determine if you can successfully get back together. Or if instead you’ll want to try to find someone new. What ever your decision, you’ll want to get at the root of the problem that caused the breakup in the first place.

Was it your actions, your attitude or something else? Whatever it was you may need to learn some of the steps of attraction that have been proven to work through out history. There’s a reason why some people never seem to suffer from these kind of disappointments. It’s because they know the secrets to attraction that almost always work to get what they want.

Find out how you can get your ex back by changing your level of attraction and making yourself irresistible. You can use these techniques to get back together, stop your divorce or rekindle your romance. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

————————————————————————————–
